Why Monmouth:
"I liked Monmouth's small campus and small class sizes. I also liked the girls on the team when I came on my recruiting visit. I wanted to experience the East Coast, especially New York City, being from California. I also liked the academic support that is offered at the school."

2014 (Senior): Selected Monmouth University’s 2014 NJAIAW Woman of the Year... Earned the Bill Boylan Award, which is presented annually to the senior student-athlete who demonstrates the traits of leadership, sportsmanship, scholarship and athletic ability that were so constant in the career of Bill Boylan… Saw action in 32 games, including 24 starts… Finished tied for second on the team with two home runs, while also finishing second with three hit-by-pitch… Her two home runs pushed her career total to 18, good for sole possession of 5th place all-time at Monmouth… Stole three bases (3rd-Team) and added a sacrifice fly… Hit .286 (2-for-7) in pinch-hit opportunities… Scored single runs in each of the Hawks’ first two games on Mar. 1 against Delaware and at Norfolk State… Notched her first hit of the year against UMBC (Mar. 2)… Scored a run in three-straight games (Mar. 8, 9), twice against Cornell and once at George Mason… Added a single and a stolen base at George Mason (Mar. 9)… Had a single and an RBI at UC Santa Barbara (Mar. 14)… Had an RBI double against Dartmouth (Mar. 20)… Hit a solo home run at Drexel (Apr. 9), sparking a six-game hitting streak… Went 1-for-4 in Game 2 at Iona (Apr. 12) before compiling a pair of 2-for-3 performances at Fairfield (Apr. 13)… Also stole two bases in Game 1 at Fairfield, before scoring a run and adding an RBI in Game 2… Went 1-for-2 in both games against Marist (Apr. 17) to cap the hitting streak… Was hit by a pitch and scored a run in Game 1 against Saint Peter’s (Apr. 19) before going 1-for- 4 with a run scored in Game 2… Had a single, a run scored and an RBI in Game 1 at Quinnipiac (Apr. 20)… Went 1-for-3 against Penn (Apr. 23)… Hit a sacrifice fly for the go-ahead run in the bottom of the 6th of an 8-7 Game 1 victory over Manhattan (May 4) on Senior Day… Hit a pinch-hit, three-run home run in Game 2 to turn a one-run deficit into a two-run lead in a 4-2 victory over Manhattan (May 4).      

2013 (Junior):
Was named to the All-NEC First Team for the second straight season… Had a team-best seven doubles, while finishing second in total bases (56) and third in RBI’s (24) and home runs (2)… Also finished fifth on the team in slugging percentage (.364)… Singled, walked and scored two runs in the season opener at Norfolk State (Feb. 24)… Doubled, scored a run and had an RBI later in the day at Norfolk State (Feb. 24)… Went 2-for-4 with a home run, three RBI’s and a run scored at Winthrop (Mar. 1)… Went 2-for-5 with a double at George Mason (Mar. 8)… Had an RBI single vs. Cornell (Mar. 9) and Longwood (Mar. 10), the latter sparking the first of two six-game hitting streaks on the season (Mar. 10-20, April 14-20)… Added RBI singles at Bethune-Cookman (Mar. 19) and UCF (Mar. 20)… Singled, walked twice and scored a run in Game 2 at North Florida (Mar. 21)… Had two hits, two RBI’s and one run scored in consecutive games of a doubleheader vs. Bryant (Mar. 24)… Doubled and scored a run in Game 1 at Sacred Heart (Mar. 30), before adding another base hit in Game 2… Singled, walked and scored a run in Game 1 at Penn (April 3), before going 3-for-4 with a double, a home run, four runs scored and four RBI’s in Game 2… Went 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored in Game 1 at Wagner (April 7)… Singled in Game 1 at La Salle (April 9) and scored one run in both games of the doubleheader… Had three hits and two RBI’s in a doubleheader sweep of NEC Champion Central Connecticut… Had a triple, a walk, two RBI’s and a run scored in Game 2 against Temple (April 17)… Went 2-for-4 with two RBI’s and a run scored in Game 1 at Mount St. Mary’s (April 20), before singling and scoring a run in Game 2… Had a hit in both games of the doubleheader at LIU Brooklyn (April 27), doubling and scoring a run in Game 2… Singled and scored a run in Game 2 vs. Saint Francis (April 28)… Had an RBI single at Robert Morris (May 10) in the NEC Tournament.

2012 (Sophomore): Named Second Team All-Great Lakes Region, All-ECAC First Team, NEC Player of the Year and Most Improved Player after showing unbelievable improvement upon her freshman campaign… After hitting .203 with five home runs and 18 RBI’s as a freshman (.155/2 HR/11 RBI’s in NEC play), she posted a .388 average with nine home runs and 34 RBI’s this season, including an NEC-best .421 average with five home runs and 16 RBI’s in league play… Her slugging percentage jumped from .347 to .669, while her on-base percentage also saw a dramatic increase from .266 to .464… Schumacher finished first in the NEC in slugging percentage, second in batting average, third in on-base percentage and fourth in home runs… Also saw great improvement within the season, going from a .291 hitter with three home runs and 13 RBI’s in the season’s first 21 games, before finishing with a .463 average with six home runs and 21 RBI’s in the season’s final 20 games, bumping her average nearly 100 points to .388… Was instrumental in the Hawks’ 7-0 finish to the regular season to claim the final NEC Tournament berth, sparking the winning streak with a two home run, five RBI game at CCSU, before adding a pair of walk-off hits in the final weekend against Mount St. Mary’s and LIU Brooklyn… Had 12 multi-hit games and hit safely in 18 of the last 20 games of the season… Was named NEC Player of the Week on Apr. 30 after leading the Hawks to seven-straight victories against Central Connecticut, Rider, Mount St. Mary’s and LIU Brooklyn.  

2011 (Freshman):  Appeared in 42 games, making 41 starts... Produced a batting average of .203 (24-118) with an on base percentage of .266... Added five home runs and 18 RBI for the Hawks... Went 1-for-3 against Norfolk State (2/26) with a home run, a run scored, and two RBI... Went 1-for-3 against George Mason (3/18) with a home run... Went 3-for-4 against Rider (4/27) with a home run.

High School: Attended Scripps Ranch High School in San Diego, California... Played third base and right field for Coach Mary Jo Griswold... Helped lead Falcons to three straight Eastern League Championships and a 69-24-4 record... Served as team captain during her senior season... Named to the Eastern League First Team as a junior... Earned all-league second team honors as a senior... Claimed All-Academic First Team honors as a junior and senior... Travel team captured the Southern California State u18 title in 2009... Helped lead squad to a 17th-place finish at the National Tournament... Hit walk-off home run to beat the Texas Royals and win pool... Batted .350 as a senior and .357 as a junior... Led Falcons in RBI in each of final two seasons.

Personal: Born August 14, 1992 in Santa Clara, California... Daughter of Robert and Joy Schumacher... Father, Robert, attended San Jose State University, while mother, Joy, attended Arizona State University... Current academic major is health studies.
