WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – Senior Michael Millar (Kearny, N.J./Kearny) and head coach Rob McCourt headline a group of four Monmouth University men’s soccer players who were honored by the Northeast Conference at their annual banquet on Thursday evening, league officials announced. Millar was the lone Hawk on the All-NEC First Team, earning nod in the midfield, while McCourt garnered his third straight NEC Coach of the Year honor.

Also honored was forward Tom Gray (Middletown, N.J./Middletown South) and a pair of defenders in Angelo Amato (Livingston, NJ/Montclair Kimberly Academy) and Daniel Bostock (Nottinghamshire, England/Virginia Intermont), all of three of which were named second team all-league.

Millar was force in the midfield all season for the Hawks, scoring one goal and contributing three assists. Gray followed up his All-NEC First Team performance from a season ago with a very productive senior campaign, finishing second on Monmouth with six goals and four assists.

Amato was a staple in a Monmouth defense that allowed the fewest goals per game in the conference (0.72 goals/game). The junior also registered an assist on the season, battling through a broken nose to finish the regular season strong. Back with Amato all season on the defensive line was Bostock, who also added a game-winning goal and an assist.

The 2007 Northeast Conference men's soccer tournament champion will be decided on The Great Lawn on the campus of Monmouth University this weekend. The first semifinal (Friday, November 16) will feature regular season champion and number one seed Monmouth versus number four seed Central Connecticut State University. Kickoff for the first semifinal is set for 11:00 a.m. The second semifinal, featuring number two seed Saint Francis University and third-seeded Sacred Heart, is slated for 1:30 p.m. Both games will be available to all fans via GameWatcher on GoMUHawks.com.

The NEC Championship game will be played on The Great Lawn on Sunday, November 18 at noon, with the winner advancing to the NCAA Tournament.
