WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J.-
Monmouth fifth year senior Kyle Frazier (Gaithersburg, Md./Damascus) has picked
up his third weekly honor, this time being named Eastern College Athletic
Conference Offensive Player of the Week after his performance in Monmouth's
dominating 41-6 win over Rhode Island last weekend.
Frazier led an offensive explosion for the Hawks, which tallied 539 yards of
offense and racked up 41 points against Colonial Athletic Association opponent
Rhode Island. Helping the Hawks to their second win over a CAA foe in as many
seasons, Frazier produced 321 yards of total offense and led the Hawks on
scoring drives on six of their first seven possessions with five touchdowns.
The 6-foot-3 veteran quarterback went 18-of-28 passing for 264 yards and three
touchdowns. Frazier added 57 yards on seven rushing attempts, four of
which resulted in at least a 10-yard gain and a first down. The
fifth-year senior capped the opening 13-play, 85-yard drive by finding Kwabena
Asante (Silver Spring, Md./James Hubert Blake/WVU) for an eight-yard scoring
strike. With the Hawks holding a 17-3 lead in the second quarter, Frazier
escaped pressure and found tight end Michael McLafferty (Morgan, N.J./War
Memorial) alone in the endzone for a 25-yard touchdown.
Under Frazier's direction the Hawks did not punt until the final play of the
third quarter, which was his last drive of the day with the game out of reach
for the Rams. The 41 points, 38 of which were on drives led by Frazier, is
the most against a non-conference opponent since a 2005 win over LaSalle.
Frazier
was named Northeast Conference Offensive Rookie of the Week and as an honorable
mention pick by the College Sports Performance Awards earlier this week.
The Hawks open up conference play this weekend when they travel to Staten
Island to face Wagner at 1 p.m.
