LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. – The Monmouth University men’s golf team posted the tournament-low round of 302 in the second day of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Championships, held at Disney’s Palm Course, to land in second overall and two strokes out of the lead heading into Sunday’s final round. Brady Goodling (Manheim, Pa./Manheim Central), who carded a one-under par 71 in the second round, begins the final 18-holes with a two-shot lead on the individual leaderboard.

Saint Peter’s, which started the day in second, moved to first with a 304 for a total of 619, two shots in front of the Hawks who climbed four spots on the team leaderboard. Fairfield shot a 308 to total 626, good for third, a shot better than Manhattan which fell to fourth with a second-round 317. Iona landed in fifth with a 635 after a 315, two shots in front of sixth-place Siena which posted a 320 on Saturday. Rider’s 313 keeps the Broncs in ninth with a 642, while Niagara claims ninth with a two-day score of 671.

Goodling registered a birdie on both the first and ninth holes to begin his day before shooting and even 36 on the back-nine. The junior, who took six shots off his first-round score, has compiled a 148 over the first 36-holes. Corey Carrick (Howell, N.J./Howell) posted a one-over par 37 on the front-nine before a back-nine 40 to end his afternoon with a 77, good for a share of ninth with a 156. Kyle Deisher (Montgomery, Pa./Montgomery Area) enters the final round a pair of strokes behind Carrick after shaving off six strokes with his second-round 76, while Cody Gross (Babylon, N.Y./Babylon) posted a 78 to compile a two-day score of 159. Colin Buckley (Duxbury, Mass./Boston College H.S.) ended the afternoon with a 36-hole score of 163 after a 81 on Saturday.
