WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. - Monmouth University freshman guard Josh James (White Plains, N.Y./Archbishop Stepanic) was named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week on Monday afternoon.

James, in his first collegiate game, came off the bench to register 19 points, six assists, four rebounds and a blocked shot in just 22 minutes of action to help spur the Hawks' second half comeback at Hofstra in the season opener on Friday night.

James, who scored 15 of his points in the second half, helped Monmouth erase a 13-point deficit with 18:45 left, hitting 6-of-10 from the field and 7-of-8 from the free throw line overall.

Monmouth returns to action on Tuesday night, when the Hawks host the University of Pennsylvania in the MAC at 7:00 p.m.
