BOSTON – The Monmouth University men’s soccer team was defeated by Boston University, 3-0, Saturday night at Nickerson Field. With the loss, the Hawks fall to 1-3-1, while the Terriers improve to 2-2-0.

The Terriers struck first in the 27th minute, as Anthony Ciccone caused a Monmouth turnover deep in its own offensive zone, before feeding Felix De Bona, who beat Hawks goalie Stephen Graziani (Succasunna, N.J./Roxbury) one-on-one for the score.

The score remained 1-0 until Jeroen Blugh got on the end of a Ciccone corner kick, heading it past Graziani in the 63rd minute. Lucas McBride added a third goal in the 88th minute, firing inside the left post off a Ciccone pass.

For the game, Monmouth outshot Boston University, 12-11, and took a 6-2 edge in corners.

The Hawks return to action Friday night, when they play host to the University at Albany. Kickoff from The Great Lawn is scheduled for 7 p.m.
