SOMERSET, N.J. – Monmouth University’s Ramy Bekhiet (Robbinsville, N.J./Robbinsville) has been named Northeast Conference Tennis Co-Player and Rookie of the Week, league officials announced Tuesday afternoon.  Bekhiet earns his second rookie of the week honor of his career, while adding his first player of the week distinction.

Bekhiet posted a perfect 5-0 mark at No. 2 singles last week and has now won seven straight singles matches for the Hawks.  The freshman knocked off three conference opponents in three days beginning with a 6-3, 7-6 win over SFU’s Andres Rosa on Saturday.  Bekhiet followed up by recording a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Wagner’s Sawyer Fonda on Sunday and wrapped his week with a 4-6, 6-3, 10-6 triumph against Quinnipiac’s Fahoum Fahoum on Monday.  Earlier in the week, the Robbinsville, N.J. product produced straight set wins against opponents from Villanova and Rider.  Bekhiet excelled in No. 1 doubles as well, winning four-of-five matches with partner Freddy Marcinkowski (Sparta, N.J./Sparta).  He leads the Hawks with 13 wins on the year - including an 8-3 mark at No. 2 singles - and is a perfect 4-0 in NEC play.

The Hawks return to action tomorrow, April 10th, as they travel up the New Jersey Parkway for a Northeast Conference match-up with Fairleigh Dickinson.
