NEW YORK, N.Y. - The Monmouth University men's tennis team wrapped up play at the Columbia Classic this past weekend.  Sophomore Freddy Marcinkowski (Sparta, N.J./Sparta) along with rookies Ramy Bekhiet (Robbinsville, N.J/Robbinsville) and Brant Switzler (Stockton, N.J./Hunterdon Central) all were in action for the Blue and White, which was competing in its fourth event of the fall.

In the 'A' singles main draw, Marcinkowski fell to St. John's Michael Lampa, 6-4, 6-1, while Bekhiet dropped his first round match to Fairfield's Erik Kremheller, 6-2, 6-0, in the 'B' singles main draw bracket.  Holger Norregaard of the New Jersey Institute of Technology hung on to edge Switzler in the 'C' main draw, 6-3, 7-5.  In the consolation round, Cornell's Alex Sidney downed Marcinkowski, 6-0, 6-2, while teammate Kyle Berman blanked Bekhiet, 6-0, 6-0.  Peder Gram needed a 10-8 tiebreaking decision to earn a, 6-1, 7-6, victory over Switzler.
