PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - The Monmouth University men's tennis squad wrapped up competition at the Saint Joseph's Fall Invitational, capturing five victories throughout the weekend. Sophomore Freddy Marcinkowski (Sparta, N.J./Sparta) took home a singles win, while also pairing with rookie Ramy Bekhiet (Robbinsville, N.J./Robbinsville) to capture a doubles victory.
In the singles Flight 1 bracket, Marcinkowski downed La Salle's De'Sean Fenneli, 6-3, 3-6, 10-4, to advance to face Delaware's Troy Beneck, who ultimately defeated him, 6-2, 6-3. In the singles Flight 2 consolations, rookie Brant Switzler (Stockton, N.J./Hunterdon Central) advanced past Lafeyette's Will Mercorella, while classmate Eric Pierce (Barrington, R.I./Barrington) downed Drexel's Danny Talone, 6-1, 4-6, 10-7 in the Flight 3 consolation bracket.
In doubles play, the tandem of Switzler and Jason Prezant (Montvale, N.J./Pascack Hills) cruised past La Salle's Dale Fetterman and Thomas MacLeod, 8-3.
Monmouth continues its fall slate on October 5-7 as it takes part in the Columbia Invitational.
