HAWKS FINISH SECOND IN QUAD MATCH

DEAL, N.J. - In its final tune-up before the 2012 Northeast Conference Championships, the Monmouth University men's golf team carded a 309 to finish in second place in a quad match at Deal Golf and Country Club. A trio of Hawks carded a 77, however Fairleigh Dickinson, paced by individual medalist, Thomas Barnes (74), shot 300 to take team honors and the par 71, 6,400-yard course.

Leading the way for the Hawks, all carding a round of 77, were juniors Ian Thimble and Luke DeSimone and sophomore Corey Carrick, while freshman Brady Goodling carded a 78 and senior Daniel McCreesh inked an 83.

Competing as individuals for Monmouth, freshman Colin Buckley fired an 80, while classmate Michael Franchi rounded out the staff with an 84.

FDU, which had the four lowest rounds on the day, bested the Hawks by nine strokes, while St. Francis shot 324, and Wagner finished with a 337.

Monmouth returns to action next weekend, when the Hawks compete in the 2012 Northeast Conference Championships.
