WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J.- Monmouth University's women's tennis team (1-11, 1-3 NEC) fell to LIU Brooklyn on Monday afternoon at the MU Tennis Courts.

The Blackbirds won both doubles matches and the five singles matches that were played. Senior captain Jessica Slinger (Tinton Falls, N.J./Monmouth Regional) returned to the lineup for the first time since suffering an ACL injury in September. Slinger teamed with junior Dana Ferrari (Saddle Brook, N.J./Immaculate Heart Academy) at the No. 2 doubles spot.

Nicole Lippens (West Long Branch, N.J./Shore Regional) fell to freshman Sanne Louwers at the No. 1 spot, 6-0, 6-1 while sophomore Brooke Verdiglione (Englishtown, N.J./St. John Vianney) fell at the No. 2 singles match by the same score.

LIU Brooklyn's freshman duo of Nancy Zonneveld and Brittany Thompson took the No. 3 and No. 4 singles spots. Monmouth frosh Ashley Sandler (Jericho, N.Y./Syosset) gave Zonneveld all she could handle, 7-6 (5), 6-4. The Hawks won the final singles by default.

Monmouth will face Wagner on April 3 at 3:30 in Staten Island.
