BRANCH, N.J.- Monmouth University's women's tennis team opened up the
Spring portion of the 2012 season with a 7-0 loss to Indiana University of Pennsylvania on
Monday afternoon.
MU was overpowered by the Crimson Hawks who are ranked 29th in the
latest Division II polls. Monmouth dropped all three doubles matches to IUP.
Monmouth's Ashley Sandler (Jericho, N.Y./Syosset) gave Abby McCormick a run at
the No. 4 spot, eventually falling 6-4, 6-4. Brooke Verdiglione (Englishtown,
N.J./St. John Vianney) lost 6-3, 6-0 to Tanya Timko while freshman Liz D'Arcy (Colonia,
N.J./Wardlaw- Hartridge) took Erika Schnaas at the No. 5 spot to 6-4, 6-1
before falling.
The Hawks are back on court Wednesday at 3:30 p.m.
