- In its first action of the 2012 spring season, the Monmouth University women's golf team, paced by sophomore Michelle Rosenhouse
, finished 16th out of 21 teams at the three-day C&F Bank Intercollegiate Tournament, hosted by William and Mary, at the Kingsmill Resort - River Course.
Monmouth, which carded a three-day total of 1,013 (334-338-341), finished in 16th position, as Longwood University took home the team title behind a three-round total of 912, and boasted the individual champion, Kameron Carter, who inked a 221 (71-74-76) on the par-71 course.
Longwood finished 10 strokes in front of St. John's (922), while St. Leo (923), Toledo (925), Pennsylvania (928), Boston College (929) and Delaware (930) all finished within eight strokes of each other to finish third through seventh, respectively.
Monmouth, which bested Saint Francis (Pa.), Mount St. Mary's and Quinnipiac in the field, finished 21 strokes behind 15th-place Sacred Heart (992) and 22 shots behind CCSU (991), which claimed 14th position.
Rosenhouse, who set a career-best round with her 79 on day one, finished with a 245 (79-85-81), to claim 59th place out of 110 competitors. Junior Kelsi Kavanagh
was Monmouth's second finisher, posting a three-day total of 254 (84-87-83) to claim 74th place, while sophomore Elizabeth Abbondandolo
(86-84-85) finished one stroke back with a 255.
Sophomore Macy Raimo
claimed 90th place overall with a 267 (85-90-92), while junior Rachel Werner
rounded out the Hawks' fivesome with a 269 (95-82-92) to sit in 93rd position.
Monmouth returns to action next weekend, when the Blue and White host the 2012 Hawk Invitational at Eagle Ridge C.C. in Lakewood, N.J.
