BOCA RATON, Fla. - The Monmouth
University men's tennis team fell to Lynn University, nationally-ranked No. 5
at Division II, 5-0, Wednesday afternoon. With the loss, the Hawks (2-5)
conclude their Spring Break trip at 2-1, while the Fighting Knights improve to
9-1 on the season.
The Fighting
Knights breezed through all three doubles flights, winning a pair of 8-0
decisions at Nos. 1 and 3, while taking an 8-2 victory at No. 2. Lynn took wins
at Nos. 3 and 5 singles to clinch the match, played by Division II rules in
which each singles and doubles match is scored equally (Division I rules score
three doubles flights as a best-of-three for one point). The Fighting Knights
held first-set victories in each of the remaining four singles flights when
action was halted.
The Hawks return to action on March 27, when
they play host to Rider. First serve is scheduled for 3 p.m.
