WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J.-  Six Hawks were named to Phil Steele's 2011 Preseason All-Northeast Conference teams, while senior safety Jose Gumbs (Queens, N.Y./Hebron) earned a spot on the Preseason All-America Third Team.

Gumbs, who has led the team in tackles in each of the last three years, returns for his final season with a wealth of preseason awards.  Phil Steele, which produces a 240 page full color magazine dedicated to just the Football Championship Subdivision, had Gumbs as a First Team All-NEC and Third Team All-American Preseason selection.

Joining Gumbs on the Preseason First Team All-League was rising junior Mike Murphy (Toms River, N.J./Toms River East ), who has started the last two seasons at left tackle.  Fifth-year senior linebacker Chris Mastrangelo (Randolph, N.J./Randolph), redshirt junior offensive tackle Dino Molina (Gaithersburg, Md./Damascus) and  sophomores Mitchell Pollard (Silver Spring, Md./Springbrook) and Jimmy Lawson (Manchester, N.J./Manchester) were all selected to the Phil Steele Preseason All-NEC squads.  Pollard is the team's top returning wide receiver while Lawson showed promise on the defensive line, where he finished second on the team in sacks in 2010 as a true freshman.

Phil Steele's 2011 FCS Preview Magazine, which features a full page on every Northeast Conference team, will be available in the first week of August and can be ordered on http://www.philsteele.com/
