The Monmouth University women’s basketball team returns to Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference play Friay at noon when it plays host to Canisius at the Multipurpose Activity Center. The Hawks fell to intrastate foe Rider, 64-53, on Sunday, while the Golden Griffins picked up their first MAAC victory of the season against Saint Peter’s, 48-47.

SCOUTING THE CANISIUS GOLDEN GRIFFINS
Canisius is led by Preseason All-MAAC Third Team pick Jamie Ruttle, who is averaging 10.8 points and 4.6 rebounds per game. Kayla Hoohuli is close behind at 9.0 points per game, while Tiahana Mills is a strong all-around contributor at 7.9 points, 4.4 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game. Jen Morabito has contributed 7.6 points per game. Crystal Porter has also added 6.8 points and 6.1 rebounds per game, while both Jen Lennox (5.6) and Emily Weber (5.1) have also chipped in offensively.

ALL-TIME SERIES VS. CANISIUS
Monmouth and Canisius have never met on the hardwood. Friday’s pairing will represent the first game in the all-time series.
 
LAST TIME OUT
Jasmine Walker posted her first-career double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds, including four on the offensive glass, but the Hawks fell to intrastate foe Rider, 64-53, Sunday afternoon at the Multipurpose Activity Center. Kasey Chambers also added a career-high 14 points to go along with a game-high three steals off the bench, while Chevannah Paalvast chipped in with nine points, seven rebounds and a game-high three assists.
