The Monmouth University women’s basketball team returns to Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference play Friday when it welcomes Fairfield to the Multipurpose Activity Center. The Hawks fell at Manhattan, 65-59, in spite of 21 points, nine rebounds and five assists from Chevannah Paalvast on Dec. 31. Meanwhile, the Stags battled back to defeat Niagara, 81-77, on Tuesday  

SCOUTING THE FAIRFIELD STAGS
Preseason All-MAAC First Teamer Katie Cizynski leads the Stags at 14.2 points and 7.6 rebounds per game. Alexys Vazquez compliments Cizynski’s interior game well, shooting a team-best 49.3 percent (36-73) from long range to average 12.7 points per game. Preseason All-MAAC Second Team selection Brittany Obi-Tabot has averaged 10.5 points and 6.0 rebounds per game so far this season. Kristin Schatzlein has also chipped in with 9.0 points per game, while Felicia DaCruz has contributed 6.4 points and a team-high 5.5 assists per game.

ALL-TIME SERIES VS. FAIRFIELD
Fairfield owns a 2-0 lead in the all-time series, with the games being played in the 1994-95 and 1995-96 seasons. The Stags took an 81-79 victory on Nov. 25, 1995 at Boylan Gym.
 
LAST TIME OUT
Chevannah Paalvast had a team-high 21 points, nine rebounds and five assists, but the Hawks fell at Manhattan, 65-59, Tuesday afternoon at Draddy Gym. Jasmine Walker added 10 points, four rebounds and a team-high three steals, while Shira Shecht also chipped in with nine points.
