REHOBOTH BEACH, Del. – In its final event of the fall season, the Monmouth University women’s golf team finished the 54-hole University of Delaware Lady Blue Hen Invitational in ninth place. The Hawks, who carded a 997 as a whole over the three rounds, was led by Michelle Rosenhouse (Dix Hills, N.Y./Half Hollow Hills West) who registered a 237, including a team-low three-over-par 74 in the final round.
Rosenhouse earned her fourth top-20 finish of the fall, and 13th of her career, as the senior carded rounds of 83-80-74 for earn a share of 17th overall, while classmate Macy Raimo (Albany, N.Y./Colonie Central) finished one stroke behind after shooting 78-81-79 over the weekend. Elizabeth Abbondandolo (Oyster Bay Cove, N.Y./Our Lady of Mercy Academy), who opened play with a 84 yesterday, shot back-to-back rounds of 85 to finish with a 254, followed by junior Ashley Navin (Ware, Mass./Quabbin Regional) who shot 91-89-88 to earn a 268. Sophomore Rebecca Gaona (Howell, N.J./Howell) shot a 279 over the three rounds, while Jessica Kavanagh (Point Pleasant, N.J./Point Pleasant Boro) playing as an individual, shot a 271.
Delaware won the team title with a 909, 16 shots in front of Penn which landed in second with a 925. Rollins slipped to third with a 929, while Brown earned fourth with a 259, a shot ahead of Towson in fifth. LIU Brooklyn finished eight shots behind the Tigers in sixth, followed by Central Connecticut State in seventh with a 980. Another Blue Hen squad earned eighth with a 990, seven strokes in front of the Hawks, while Delaware State rounded out the field with a 1020.
With the fall campaign now complete, the Hawks will focus their attention to the spring season which will begin in March.
