PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Senior Michelle Rosenhouse (Dix Hills, N.Y./Half Hollow Hills West) fired a one-over-par 73 in the final round of the Rutgers Invitational as the Monmouth University women’s golf team landed in 17th place after a second round 329. The Hawks, who took four strokes off their opening round score, finished the 36-hole event with a 664.
Rosenhouse, who finished eight strokes better in the second round, earned her third-straight top-20 finish with her 14th place result in a field of 113 competitors. The fourth-year Hawk compiled a 154 over the two days, four strokes better than her two previous 36-hole tournaments this season, to shrink her stroke average to a team-best 80.2.
Classmate Macy Raimo (Albany, N.Y./Colonie Central) completed the tournament in second for the Blue and White with a 169 after a final round 86. Elizabeth Abbondandolo (Oyster Bay Cove, N.Y./Our Lady of Mercy Academy) shaved four shots off yesterday’s card with an 83, ending the tournament with a 170, two strokes in front of sophomore Jessica Kavanagh (Point Pleasant, N.J./Point Pleasant Boro) who shot a 87 on Tuesday, while Rebecca Gaona (Howell, N.J./Howell) rounded out the Hawks’ lineup with a 176 (86-90). Playing as an individual, Ashley Navin (Ware, Mass./Quabbin Regional) shot a 86 in the final 18 holes, ending the two days with a 175.
Delaware held on for the team victory, ending the tournament with a total of 603, while Seton Hall’s Erin McClure fired back-to-back rounds of 73 to earn medalist honors with a 146 total.
Monmouth concludes the fall slate under first-year head coach Susan DeKalb October 26-27 at the 54-hole Delaware Lady Blue Hen Invitational held at the Rehoboth Beach Country Club.
