FINAL ROUND OF THE BINGHAMTON INVITATIONAL WASHED OUT
APALACHIN, N.Y. – The final round of the Binghamton Invitational was cancelled Monday afternoon due to inclement weather in the area. The Monmouth University men’s golf team finished the tournament in 10th place with Brady Goodling (Manheim, Pa./Manheim Central) pacing the squad for the third-consecutive tournament.
Goodling, the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Golfer of the Month, carded a one-over-par 73 in Sunday’s opening round to move his team-leading stroke average to 73.9 through the team’s first four events. Corey Carrick followed Goodling with a 74, good for a share of 20th overall, while Kyle Deisher (Montgomery, Pa./Montgomery Area) fired an opening-round 81, two strokes in front of Colin Buckley (Duxbury, Mass./Boston College H.S.) who carded an 83. In his first collegiate event, freshman TommyWhelan (Smithtown, N.Y./Smithtown West) notch an 89 in Sunday’s round, while Cody Gross (Babylon, N.Y./Babylon), playing as individual posted an 84.
Laval University finishes with the team title with 276 behind Ujo Coussaud’s tournament low six-under-par 66. Fairleigh Dickinson landed in second with a 280, three strokes ahead of the host Bearcats. Canisisus completed the event in fourth, carding a 296, followed by Rider which finished one stroke behind. Delaware and Hofstra finished in sixth and seventh, posting rounds of 298 and 299, respectively, while St. Bonaventure and Roberts Wesleyan shared eighth place with a score of 302, nine strokes ahead of the Hawks who round out the top-10 of the 13-team field.
The Hawks return home this Thursday, October 10th as it welcomes Saint Peter’s, Lafayette, and Fairleigh Dickinson to Deal Country Club for the MU Quad Match.
