GOODLING, CARRICK PACE MENíS GOLF AT BINGHAMTON INVITATIONAL
APALACHIN, N.Y. – Brady Goodling (Manheim, Pa./Manheim Central) and Corey Carrick (Howell, N.J./Howell) fired rounds of 73 and 74, respectively, as the Monmouth University men’s golf team sits in 10th place at the Binghamton Invitational, held at the par-72 Links at Hiawatha Landing.
Goodling, who was named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Golfer of the Month, finished with a share of 18th overall with his one-over-par outing, while Carrick stands in 20th with his two-over-par performance. Kyle Deisher (Montgomery, Pa./Montgomery Area) fired an opening-round 81, two strokes in front of Colin Buckley (Duxbury, Mass./Boston College H.S.) who carded an 83. In his first collegiate event, freshman Tommy Whelan (Smithtown, N.Y./Smithtown West) notch an 89 in Sunday’s round, while Cody Gross (Babylon, N.Y./Babylon), playing as individual posted an 84.
Laval University holds the team lead with 276 behind Ujo Coussaud’s tournament low six-under-par 66. Fairleigh Dickinson sits in second with a 280, three strokes ahead of the host Bearcats. Canisisus finished the afternoon in fourth, carding a 296, followed by Rider which finished one stroke behind. Delaware and Hofstra finished in sixth and seventh, posting rounds of 298 and 299, respectively, while St. Bonaventure and Roberts Wesleyan share eighth place with a score of 302, nine strokes ahead of the Hawks who round out the top-10 of the 13-team field.
The final round of the invitational tees off tomorrow at 8:00 a.m..
