The Monmouth University women’s basketball team returns home following five games and three weeks away from West Long Branch Tuesday, when they play host to the University of Maryland Eastern Shore. Monmouth is coming off a 71-48 loss to Bowling Green on Sunday. Maryland Eastern Shore has won two straight, including a victory over Division II Lincoln (Pa.), 71-63, on Nov. 26 in Princess Anne, Md., following a 93-91 overtime win against George Mason on Nov. 23.

SCOUTING THE MARYLAND EASTERN SHORE HAWKS
Jessica Long leads UMES at 19.3 points, 5.0 assists and 1.8 steals per game, while shooting a team-best 46.4 percent from the floor. Shawnee Sweeney has also chipped in with 10.7 points per game, launching a team-high 61 three-point attempts at a 27.9 percent clip. Alexis Udoji averages a double-double 10.3 points and 10.5 rebounds per game, while also rejecting 2.7 shots per game and tying Long for the team lead in steals (1.8 spg.). TeAmber Burke has also contributed 9.2 points and 4.8 rebounds per game, while Ashleigh Claybrooks has averaged 8.3 points and 6.8 rebounds. Shanyce Stewart has grabbed a team-high 11.6 rebounds per game.

ALL-TIME SERIES VS. MARYLAND EASTERN SHORE
Monmouth owns a 3-0 lead in the all-time series, with all three games being played in consecutive seasons between 2000-01 and 2002-03. Monmouth defeated UMES, 79-62, in the inaugural meeting between the two programs on Dec. 2, 2000 at Boylan Gym. Monmouth followed with another pair of victories in Princess Anne, Md., on Dec. 22, 2001 (75-67) and in West Long Branch on Dec. 11, 2002 (59-47).
