BOWEN SETS FRESHMAN RECORD AT LAFAYETTE

EASTON, Pa. - Freshman Khari Bowen (Monroe, N.J./Monroe Township) ran a new freshman record in the 3,000 meter run and Erik Anderson (Wading River, N.Y./Shoreham Wading River) finished in second with a jump of 6' 5" in the high jump to lead the Monmouth men's track and field squad, which earned 12 top-eight finishes, at Lafayette's Seven-Way Meet, Sunday afternoon.  The women's team claimed three top-eight finishes at the meet, which was moved from Saturday to Sunday due to the inclement weather.

Bowen completed the 3k in 8:42.15 to claim second overall and set the new Monmouth rookie standard.

Taylor Bernstein (Pine Brook, N.J./Montville Township) and Dan D'Amato (Matawan, N.J./Old Bridge) finished in fourth and sixth, respectively, in the shot put, landing marks of 46' 11.5" and 44' 7.5". D'Amato also registered a seventh place result in the discus, hurling for 132' 2".

In the pole vault, Drew Ohm III (South Park, Pa./South Park) hurdled 12' 3.5" to claim fourth.

Nick Waltman (Colonia, N.J./JFK Memorial) cleared 42' 7" triple jump to earn fifth.

The 4x400 meter relay team of John Sokolik, Alex Leight (Old Bridge, N.J./Old Bridge), Pat Ryan (Leonia, N.J./Leonia), and Chris Solda (Bethlehem, Pa./Bethlehem Catholic) ran to a fifth place finish.

Wulf Sutcliffe (Mt. Gretna, Pa./Cedar Crest High School) and Andrew Micheliche (Toms River, N.J./Toms River South) chipped in a pair of seventh place finishes.  Sutcliffe landed a throw of 140' 11" in the hammer throw, while Micheliche earn seventh in the long jump.

Christopher Del Fattore (Colonia, N.J./John F Kennedy Memorial) crossed the finish line in 4:04.11 in the 1,500 meter run and Ryan Brown (Elizabethtown, Pa./Elizabethtown) posted a time of 15.83 in the 110 hurdles as both  Hawks finished in eighth.

For the women's squad, Lauren McDonald (Roseland, N.J./West Essex Regional) cleared 10' 2" in the pole vault to earn fourth, while also running 12.81 in the 100 meter dash to claim 10th.

Amber Brown (South Brunswick, N.J./South Brunswick) threw for 38' .25" in the shot put to earn fifth, while also earning seventh in the discus, landing a mark of 117' 5".

Danielle Branco (Old Bridge, N.J./Old Bridge) ran 10:53.78 in the 3,000 meter run to finish 12th.

Monmouth is back on the track next weekend at Pepsi Florida Relays in Gainesville, Florida, while others will travel to Princeton, N.J. for the Sam Howell Invitational.
