Monmouth University is committed to Athletics as an integral part of higher education. Athletics' mission is to provide student-athletes with the opportunity to develop their highest level of athletics ability, while safeguarding their welfare, on and off the field of competition, in a diverse environment that promotes high academic standards and personal development.


It is the intent of Monmouth University to comply with all applicable rules and regulations of the NCAA. Monitoring will be provided to ensure compliance and to identify and report to the NCAA instances in which compliance was not achieved. Members of the staff, student-athletes, and other individuals and groups representing the institution's athletics interest shall comply with all applicable rules and regulations.

Coaches and staff members are required to report any and all violations. Additionally, coaches and staff members shall provide assistance and encouragement to any student-athlete that wishes to report potential violations. Coaches are instructed to direct student-athletes that may have any rules questions or compliance concerns to the associate athletics director in charge of compliance.

Coaches will affirm their compliance with these policies by annually signing the NCAA Certificate of Compliance.


A Monmouth University student-athlete has the unique opportunity to pursue athletic excellence coupled with an exceptional academic experience. Participation as a Monmouth University student-athlete is also a very public experience, and demands responsible leadership in this regard. Monmouth student-athletes are expected to conduct themselves, at all times, with honesty, pride, sportsmanship, and integrity.

A Monmouth University student-athlete's behavior must be representative of the high moral and ethical standards of both the University and the athletics department. Information about these standards is available from your coach, the athletics administration, MSAAC, and from the Office of the Vice President for Student Services.

A Monmouth University student-athlete must abide by all the rules and regulations of the general student body as detailed in the Monmouth University Student Handbook. Violation of these policies may result in further sanctions as they relate to athletic participation. Additionally, Monmouth University student-athletes are subject to all the printed rules and regulations required of each specific team. Any student-athlete charged with a felony crime could be subject to suspension from athletic participation until the charges are resolved.


At Monmouth University, we define sportsmanship as respect for oneself, opponents, coaches, teammates, officials, and property. This is characterized by accepting victory or defeat graciously while being courteous and fair.
