MCCREESH LEADS MU AFTER ONE ROUND OF LAFAYETTE INVITATIONAL

EASTON, PA. - Paced by senior Daniel McCreesh's opening day 76, the Monmouth University men's golf team fired a 313 to stand in ninth place of 15 teams after one round of the Lafayette Spring Invitational, played at the par-72, 6,548 yard Northampton Country Club. The Hawks, who are just seven shots out of second place, are four strokes outside the top five.

McCreesh, who carded a four over par 76 to open the competition, stands in a tie for ninth place out of a total of 84 golfers, while Brandon Shin of Hofstra leads the field with a two under par 70, three shots clear of a trio of competitors.

Hofstra holds the team lead after one round, carding a 291, 15 shots better than second place Fairleigh Dickinson (306).

Junior Luke DeSimone is Monmouth's second finisher after 18 holes, inking a 78 to stand in a tie for 23rd position, while classmate Ian Thimble stands one stroke back with a 79 to hold 35th position.

Freshman Brady Goodling notched an 80 to stand in 47th place, while sophomore Corey Carrick rounded out the Hawks' fivesome with an 83 to hold 65th place. Competing as an individual, freshman Colin Buckley also carded a 79, to stand in a tie with Thimble.

Monmouth returns to action on Monday, when the Hawks compete in the final round of the Lafayette Spring Invitational.
