FAIRFIELD, Conn. - Francis Jedlinski
(Manalapan, N.J./Freehold Township) and David Sherwood (Little Egg Harbor,
N.J./Pinelands) each won at both singles and doubles to lead the Monmouth
University men's tennis team past defending Northeast Conference Champion
Sacred Heart, 5-2, Saturday afternoon in Fairfield. With the win, the Hawks
improve to 4-9 (1-2 NEC), while the Pioneers fall to 4-9 (1-3 NEC).
Carl
Jedlinski (Manalapan, N.J./Freehold Township) and Jason Rothstein (Pine Brook,
N.J.) also earned singles wins, while Laurence Heads (Stockton-on-Tees,
England/Repton School) and Tom Kowalski (Westfield, N.J./Westfield) paired with
Francis Jedlinski and Sherwood, respectively, in picking up doubles victories.

Jedlinski and Heads paired to defeat Chadd Sullo and Justin Pagan, 8-4, at No.
2 doubles, while Sherwood and Kowalski got past John LoPresti and Luka Bagi,
8-6, at No. 3 to stake the Hawks to a 1-0 lead with the doubles point.

Jedlinski breezed past Pagan, 6-1, 6-1, at No. 2 singles, before twin brother
Carl Jedlinski needed little more time to take down LoPresti, 6-2, 6-2, at No.
4. Sherwood edged Logan Mohring, 6-4, 7-5, at No. 5, while Rothstein defeated
Jacob Miller, 6-3, 6-3, at No. 6.
The Hawks return to Northeast Conference action Wednesday,
when they play host to Garden State rival Fairleigh Dickinson. First serve is
scheduled for 3 p.m.
